Potassium Permanganate and Sulfosalicylic Cream

Potassium permanganate is an inorganic chemical compound that is diluted in water and used to treat weeping skin conditions. It has both antiseptic and astringent properties. Sulfosalicylic cream has been used to treat skin conditions caused by microorganisms on the skin.

Polymeric Dressing

Polymeric membrane dressings consist of a thin polyurethane foam membrane providing a porous structure that exudates fluid from wounds, controls water loss, and promotes moist wound healing conditions. A variety of polymeric dressings have been developed that also may contain substances such as moisturizers or surfactant to help debride tissue. Polymeric dressings have been evaluated for their efficacy in the treatment of radiodermatitis.

Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a type of osmotic laxative. In the United States, standard-dose PEG with electrolytes is known as Golytely® (PEG 3350 and electrolytes for oral solution) and Colyte®. Low-dose PEG, referred to as PEG 3350, is available in the United States without electrolytes and is marketed as Miralax®. In the United Kingdom and the Netherlands, PEG is available with or without electrolytes. Nulytely® is a sodium-free mixture for specific patient populations.

Polarity Therapy

Polarity therapy promotes healing, relaxation, and well-being by unblocking and balancing energy flow and reestablishing homeostasis within the human energy field. A trained therapist uses anatomical hand positions (connectors) to examine energy flow, discover trigger points, and restore homeostatic energy flow.

Polaprezinc

Polaprezinc is a compound containing L-carnosine and zinc ion. This compound has been shown to have some positive effects in the treatment of gastric ulcers and other gastrointestinal mucosal injuries. Poaprezinc was examined for its efficacy in the prevention and management of oral mucositis in patients receiving treatment for cancer.

Triple Drug Regimen

The triple drug regimen of steroid (dexamethasone), a serotonin 5-HTreceptor antagonist (RA), and a neurokinin 1 (NK1) receptor antagonist has been studied for prevention and management of CINV in patients with cancer receiving multiday chemotherapy regimens. This combination has been recommended by National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) for patients receiving high emetic risk IV chemotherapy.

Trolamine (Biafine®)

Trolamine is an oil-in-water emulsion with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory properties that heals wounds by recruiting macrophages to the wound bed and promoting the production of granulation tissue.

Turmeric

Turmeric, also known as Curcuma longa, is a common spice native to India and other tropical regions. It is frequently used in Asian cooking. The active ingredient, curcumin, is believed to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Turmeric Cream

Turmeric, also known as Curcuma longa, is a common spice native to India and other tropical regions. It is frequently used in Asian cooking. The active ingredient, curcumin, is believed to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. A cream containing turmeric and sandalwood oil has been examined for its efficacy in the management of radiodermatitis.

Pneumococcal and Meningococcal Vaccination

Administration of vaccination against meningococcal and pneumococcal bacterial strains has been identified by several professional groups as an intervention for patients at risk. Individuals who are asplenic, such as those who had radiation to the spleen, and patients who are severely immunocompromised, such as those who have undergone transplantations, are at greatest risk for infection from these types of bacteria.
