Coaching

Coaching involves interventions to educate, encourage, and prepare patients to communicate with providers about concerns. Coaching may involve the use of tools such as checklists or prompt sheets. Coaching interventions enable patients to practice communicating.

Co enzyme Q 10 (CoQ10)

CoQ10 is a substance found in cell membranes that plays a role in energy production and transport at the cellular level. It has antioxidant properties. Although suggested in the lay literature for multiple conditions, it is not currently approved for the treatment of any condition. CoQ10 was studied in patients with cancer for its effect on fatigue.

Clonidine

Clonidine is in a class of medications called centrally acting alpha-agonist hypotensive agents. It is a sympatholytic that decreases heart rate and cardiac output and relaxes the blood vessels. Clonidine comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Clonidine has been studied for its effect in treatment of hot flashes. 

Citalopram

Citalopram is an antidepressant in the class of drugs that are serotonin reuptake inhibitors that has been studied in patients with cancer for management of depressive symptoms and hot flashes.   

Chlorhexidine Sponge Dressing

Chlorhexadine is an antiseptic that has broad spectrum effect against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Use of a foam dressing containing chlorhexadine for central lines was examined in patients with cancer for prevention of central line infection.

Chlorhexidine Skin Prep

Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic that has a broad-spectrum effect against gram-positive and -negative bacteria. The use of chlorhexidine solution for skin preparation prior to central line insertion and for routine central venous catheter care has been evaluated for its effects in the prevention of central line infection, and it is generally included as part of central venous catheter care bundles.

Chlorhexidine

Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic that has a broad spectrum effect against both gram-positive and -negative bacteria. Chlorhexidine gluconate oral rinse, which contains glycerol, coloring, flavoring and other compounds, has been studied in patients with cancer for the prevention and treatment of mucositis.

Chlorhexidine Impregnated Washcloths—Chlorhexidine Bath

Chlorhexadine is an antiseptic that has broad spectrum effect against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Bathing patients with chlorhexidine or with washcloths impregnated with chlorhexadine has been examined for prevention of infection in patients with cancer.

Charcoal

Charcoal is ash and carbon residue from animal and plant substances. Charcoal has been used for treatment of upset stomach. Charcoal has been studied in patients with cancer for prevention of chemotherapy-induced diarrhea.

Chamomilla recutita

This botanical substance is extracted from the flowerhead of the matricaria flower known as Chamomilla recutita, which is found throughout Europe and northern Asia. The extract is thought to have anti-inflammatory effects as well as antiseptic and healing properties.
