Theta Cream

Theta cream contains glucan, hydroxyprolisilane, and matrixyl. Glucan is a polysaccharide molecule, some types of which occur in nature in plants, grains, baker's yeast, and medicinal mushrooms. Some of these have modulating effects on the immune system. Hydroxyprolisilane is a component of several cosmetic skin care products that has properties of tissue regeneration and strengthening of collagen and elastin fibers. Matrixyl is in some anti-aging creams and serums.

Therapeutic Touch

Therapeutic touch (TT) or healing touch is an energy therapy where the practitioner’s hands move through the patient’s energy field to assess and treat energy field imbalances (Shames & Keegan, 2000). The specially trained practitioner deliberately “centers” intention from an external focus to an internal focus of calm, then moves his or her hands over the patient’s body, but does not actually touch the body. TT has been studied as an intervention for anxiety and pain in patients with cancer.

Thalidomide

Thalidomide was used in the 1960s as an anxiolytic and antiemetic agent for pregnant women and was withdrawn from use because of its teratogenic effects. Because of its antiangiogenic properties, it has resurfaced as an antineoplastic drug and currently is indicated for the treatment of multiple myeloma.Thalidomide reduces the production of tumor necrosis factor alpha.

Testosterone Replacement

Testosterone is an anabolic steroid hormone that is the primary sex hormone in males. Testosterone replacement is the provision of testosterone to the patient. Testosterone replacement has been studied in patients with cancer for treatment of hot flashes as well as other symptoms.

Tazarotene

Tazarotene is a vitamin A derivative and is also known as a retinoid. This treatment is believed to slow skin cell growth. It comes in a gel or cream available in either 0.05% or 0.1% strength. Tazarotene has been used as an intervention for skin reactions secondary to chemotherapy in patients with cancer.

Targeted Anti-Cytokine Therapy

Targeted anti-cytokine therapy involves the use of an agent, such as a monoclonal antibody, that inhibits physiologic actions of the cytokine. Therapy reviewed here involved the use of an antibody to tumor necrosis factor, which has been used in a variety of inflammatory diseases, such as Crohn’s disease and arthritis. Use of this therapy was evaluated in patients with cancer for the management of fatigue.

Tapentadol

Tapentadol is an opioid similar to tramadol. It is a centrally acting analgesic and a mu-opioid receptor agonist with activity as a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor. Tapentadol has been examined for effectiveness in relief of chronic pain.

Tanezumab

Tanezumab is a monoclonal antibody that targets nerve growth factor, potentially affecting how the body processes pain. Tanezumab has been examined for its effect on pain.

Tailored Information

Tailored information refers to the provision of information that is customized according to the specific characteristics of the individual to whom the information is being provided. Tailored approaches are created on the basis of each individual’s particular needs, concerns, motivators, and behavioral challenges, and may take into account particular stressors and life situations that pertain to the individual. Tailored information has been examined for its effect on anxiety and depressive symptoms in patients with cancer.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a Chinese martial arts activity that involves deep breathing, exercise, and slow movement with a meditative aspect, connecting the individuals physical, mental, and emotional states. Tai Chi has been examined for its effect on symptoms such as anxiety, depression, and fatigue.
